I don't do this usually, but what I'm about to share is a serious religious talk.
Disclaimer, my depth of knowledge might not so deep, shallow and surface, but after what i had experienced i felt obligated to divulge the story so that we can all acquire the goods from it.
Im still in shock after what I've experienced just now. To begin with, one of my friends invited me to attend his 'group' discussion. To cut the story short and straight, I agreed to accompany him without knowing what kind of discussion will it be.
The meeting started pretty harmless, no sign of anything abnormal.
"What do you know about Islam?", question that stopped me from sipping my cup. At first I thought that Ustaz-look-alike was just being a weirdo to throw me that kind of question, but then only I realized, all eyes around the table were looking at me, sharply pending my answer.
I was so nervous that not even a single word came out from my mouth, I was completely stunned by that question. As I was wondering why in the world he asked me that question, I started to notice that the discussion is not actually a 'normal' discussion like what I thought. Their discussion was mostly about global issues and Islam
At first, nothing is weird, I didn't have any problem in nodding my head. But all of sudden, he took out Al-Quran translate and find few verses to backup his claims. I might not the expert, but i had a feeling that its not wise to simply quote verses from Al-Quran as it might have indirect meaning, only Mighty Allah knows. Seriously, that so-called Ustaz simply flipped through the pages and quoted as he goes. I didn't say a word but i stopped nodding to show my disagreement to that kind of discussions.
And 30 minutes down the line, the discussions went deeper and deeper, and they started to talk about Al-Fatihah translation, and God forgive them, they tried to relate the meanings of Al-Fatihah with Malaysian Leadership. At this moment of time, I really cant help it, my bullshyt-o-meter shot sky-high and I just can't take it any further, so I left.
Use our wise, for Allah had given us 'aqal' to think about Allah's creations, and not to deceive one another.
The argument was so persuasive. I recall few of their false claims:
i) We do everything with Bismillah. Thus Bismillah means whatever we do we must understand Allah. Like Communism, Islam direction shall be towards Allah-ism (note Allah-ism is what they used)
ii) They talked about Al-Fatihah. Basically they claim you are one of the early 'mukminin', and Islam is on the rise again, they are giving us this awareness, and we're creating this country somewhere, and hope us to join them. They claimed that Islam administration changed from time to time. Mecca, Madinah, Mecca, Damsyik, Turki etc, but in the end it will reach Malaysia.
This is when I stopped listening. I felt I've been bluffed twice, the 1st one was in Da Vinci Code movie! Little bit of clues strategically located will make you believe even harder.
Let us pray, for our own safe, for Allah's forgiveness upon them, and may Allah redirect those who have divert from Islam tought. Amin.
I feel so sad :(
